We’re half way through the year, which means we have 6 months to make the most of 2019. If you’ve not had the best year so far, you’ve got more than enough time to turn it around for yourself, don’t waste time waiting until next year, because time is the one thing that you can never get back! The first half of the year has been a complete and utter whirlwind for me and I’m currently doing my best to figure out my next move. I started off the year writing my dissertation about terrorism, completing my Journalism portfolio and finishing off the final assignments of my university course and thank goodness, I have finally finished university and I’ll soon be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a 2.1 (with honors). I am so happy and proud of myself for not only completing my course (as I wanted to drop out last year) but also for achieving a really good grade, which somewhat makes all the tears, late nights and hard work worth it!
I also spent the first past of 2019 really focusing on my mental health. After three and a half long years, trying to battle it by myself – which didn’t work by the way. I refused to let my poor mental health take another year of my life and I actually sought professional help, which was extremely daunting. My main thought was, how am I supposed to tell someone else how I’m feeling, when I can’t explain it myself? Regardless, I finally went to my GP and got referred to CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), which has helped immensely and taught me how cyclical and repetitive thoughts and behaviours are and the importance of ceasing those negative and debilitating thoughts to break the cycle. It hasn’t been a long time since I’ve finished CBT, but I can already see the huge difference it has made in my life, in terms of dealing with stress, low moods and anxiety.
GOALS FOR PART TWO OF 2019
| GET A NEW JOB
This is my ultimate goal for 2019, which is to get a new job either in the journalism, social media or public relations field that I genuinely enjoy. I really want to kick-start my actual career rather than just having jobs that quite frankly have nothing to do with what I’m passionate about and are merely just about funding my lifestyle and luxury handbag habit. I would love to get a job in the beauty or fashion industry, where I can create content, whether it’s writing, photography or social media etc. so fingers crossed!
| BUY A NEW CAR
This is a little goal that I would like to achieve by the end of the year, as a Christmas/22nd birthday present to myself. Whenever I think about the idea of getting a new car, I always remember that I have a nice, modern car that works perfectly well (for the most part) and that I don’t need a new one. However, I have always wanted a Mini and so I would potentially like to get a Mini Cooper towards the end of the year because I believe I deserve it!
| CONSISTENTLY CREATE CONTENT
I have never been in a position where I have the time and resources to consistently create content. I’ve always allowed things, such as university, school, work etc. to get in the way and at the moment, I have the more time on my hands than ever before and my goal is to consistently create. That being said, this blog post is not just a recap of the year so far and my goals for the remainder, but a vow too. I will be posting twice a week on my blog, every Tuesday and Sunday at 6AM GMT and once a week on my YouTube channel, every Thursday at 6PM GMT. In addition to this, I will also be posting to Instagram pretty much daily and on pinterest too! So please, follow, subscribe and support as I endeavor to regularly create good quality content that you’ll love.
