When configuring a skincare routine, it consists of a fair bit of trial and error. I’ve been trialing out and reviewing various skincare products since I was fifteen, so it’s taken a while to know what works for me. Anyway I’m happy that now, at 22 (although I’ve had this routine for about a year now) that I have finally figured out a skincare lineup that my skin actually agrees with. One thing you’ll notice about my skincare routine is that it consists of a combination of high-end, premium and drugstore products as I merely use what works for me!
CLEANSE
THE BODY SHOP CAMOMILE CLEANSING BUTTER
The first step of my skincare routine is obviously cleanser. When it comes to cleansers, I used to use foam cleansers, however I’ve been converted to using a solid balm cleanser. Honestly, when I first tried a cleansing butter, I didn’t really take to the concept. However it’s safe to say that I’m now an avid fan and The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter is an absolute staple of mine, and one that I have repurchased countless times. I love applying this to my face and then using a warm/hot damp flannel to remove it. It always feels like a nice spa treatment and the warm water also helps to open my pores and cleanse my skin.
TONE
THE ORDINARY GLYCOLIC ACID TONING SOLUTION
In regards to toners, I don’t have a particular favourite, I just use what I have purchased, as it’s not really a skincare product that I have ever gotten particularly excited about. I’m currently using the Glycolic Acid Toning Solution from The Ordinary. I find it’s a nice step in between cleansing and the rest of my skincare routine. I personally tend to opt for toners containing glycolic acid as it helps to prevent my skin from being dull and sallow. I’m also partial to using the Pixi Glow-Tonic as well!
EYE CREAM
LA ROCHE POSAY PIGMENTCLAR
I’m relatively fussy when it comes to eye creams and the La Roche Posay Pigmentclar is the best that I have personally tried. Now I’m only 22, so I’m not looking for something that will get rid of wrinkles or anything. I merely want to prevent premature ageing and help with my dark under-eye circles. This eye cream was a little hard to get hold of for a while, so I ended up trying out a new one and I noticed a difference fairly soon – and not in a good way. I think that’s how you know just how good a product is, when you notice a difference in your skin when you stop using it and the Pigmentclar eye cream from LRP is great for my under-eye circles.
SERUM
SARAH CHAPMAN INTENSE HYDRATING BOOSTER
I first tried the Sarah Chapman Intense Hydrating Booster when I was about sixteen years old and fell in love at first pump – does that even make sense? Is that weird? Anyway continuing. I have since rekindled my fondness of this product, as it’s great for hydrating the skin. It contains “moisture magnets” which help to give the skin a boost of hydration. As someone whose skin sometimes goes through periods of time when it’s extremely dry, this is a product, which is a constant in my skincare routine to provide a consistent boost of hydration.
MOISTURISE
PIXI ROSE OIL BLEND & E45 CREAM
The Rose Oil Blend is one of my absolute favourite products from PIXI. I’ve found this product to be a great help, not only with the texture of my skin, but also with the amazing glow that it provides. Despite how rich it is in consistency, it absorbs nicely into the skin, but doesn’t make me breakout at all. I used to apply the face oil and then go in with my moisturiser, however I’ve recently been mixing it into my moisturiser and I actually really like this method of application. For moisturiser, I’m really basic and use E45 cream, again because my skin goes through phases when it’s difficult to manage, and this is another product that I’ve found really helps in during those times.
Have you tried any of these products? What are your go-to skincare products?
