If lockdown gave me anything, it was time and I had a lot of time to think about life and what I wanted to get out of my life and one of those things was to travel more. I’ve always loved travelling however over the past few years I’ve been education and still at university so I got stuck to a timetable and never really had anyone to go with.
I’ve decided that I’m going to start travelling more regardless of whether I’ve got a travel partner or not. However, with everything being how it is at the moment I am reluctant to travel anytime this year, so I’ve been thinking about where I would like to travel next year when this Coronavirus issue is hopefully settled. I’ve tried to be a little bit realistic with the places I would like to visit because it’s easy to get carried away and certain destinations become unrealistic, so I’ve tried to rein it in a little!
AMSTERDAM
Amsterdam is one my favourite places I’ve ever been to. I went a couple times in 2018 and I can’t pinpoint it, but there’s something about Amsterdam that I absolutely love. It’s a place that I would happily go back to year after year whether it’s for a day trip or for a weekend away. Although I’ve been there a few times, I haven’t been able to see much culture and more of the touristy things. I’d really love to visit Anne Frank’s house, as it’s on the top of my list however for various reasons in the past I just haven’t been able to go. It’s something that gets booked up really quickly but is a place in Amsterdam that I’ve always wanted to go to. Another thing I would love to do is go to the Amsterdam look out where there is a big swing and you can swing and see all of the views of Amsterdam. I’m not typically a museum person, but the last couple things I would love to do is go to a couple of the museums. When in Rome (or Amsterdam) and all that, you’ve got to check out the Banksy and Van Gough museums.
EDINBURGH
Scotland is another place that I’ve never been to and for some reason I have the urge to go. I think it will just be a nice city break away that I can enjoy and find out a bit more about the destination. Having been born and raised in London there’s always so much to do that I rarely venture out of London so Scotland could be my first port of call and potentially my first solo trip. I’m fully aware saying ‘I’d like to go to Scotland’ is very vague but in particular I would like to go to Edinburgh. I don’t have a long list of things I would like to do in Edinburgh it would just be more for the atmosphere and just to experience another place but I would go to Edinburgh Castle and the Camera Obscura world of Illusions.
DUBAI
Usually when I go away on holiday during the summer time it’s to somewhere hot in Spain, France or Portugal, however Dubai is a place that I have wanted to go to for a few years now, but just never found someone who would actually like to go. If I do go to Dubai, it would be during summer as I would merely be going for the hot weather and to go shopping, but I just think it would be a nice place to go to and slightly different to where I’m used to and have been before.
VEGAS / NEW YORK
Going away for my birthday would be the ultimate thing for me as I’ve never been away for my birthday before and it’s something I would love to do. I went to New York a few years ago but I went in the October, just before the Christmas period but I would love to see New York at Christmas and as my birthday is in December there wouldn’t be a more fitting time to go! New York is definitely one of my favourite places I’ve ever been to and is generally just a place I would love to revisit. Vegas is another place I would love to go and wouldn’t mind going around my birthday. I turned 21 back in 2018 and now that I’m old enough to drink and dabble in a little bit of gambling – not that I’d know what I’m doing, I think it would be just a fun and chilled out trip. So either New York or Vegas for my birthday would be perfect! Any takers?
