No matter how many clothes I seem to purchase, there always appears to be gaps that need to be filled or items that I would like to replace. When I go inside my wardrobe everyday, I tend to notice certain gaps and think to myself “oh I wish I had this item”, or “these shoes would look great with that”. In light of this, I had a little rummage through my wardrobe and drawers and I finally have a concise list of items that I need to buy to complete my capsule wardrobe. My style is very simple and basic, which I like as it keeps it classic and timeless. I like pieces that go with pretty much everything, yet still leaves me a little room to deviate and experiment with items outside of my comfort zone! In spite of that, I now know the exact pieces that I need to keep an eye out for when I go shopping!
| OUTERWEAR
There are a couple pieces of outerwear that would really add some value to my wardrobe. One being a black double-breasted blazer, which you can’t go wrong with! It would make the perfect ensemble when paired with a simple outfit consisting of a v-neck t-shirt and a pair of jeans. It’s a simple addition that completely elevates an outfit. Finding the perfect blazer is a tricky one as it’s important that you find the correct length and fit, hence why it’s a void that remains open in my wardrobe.
A longline coat is another coat that I would love to add to my wardrobe. I haven’t seen one that particularly takes my fancy, and we’re completely out of season to be looking for what is essentially a winter coat, but I’m considering a teddy coat or just a warm wooly coat, pretty much just something that hits the calf area! The only other coat/jacket that would fit my wardrobe pretty well is a denim jacket. Perfect to wear during the cooler and warmer months. I just need to find one that’s the right shade of denim as well as the best fit!
| TOPS
Since having a little job change, I’ve been purchasing a fair few things, mainly tops so there’s not a great deal of tops that I feel like I need. However there is one piece that has created a significant void as it’s an absolute staple – a black shirt. I’ve known that a classic black shirt is really needed in my wardrobe, but I can’t seem to find the perfect shirt, which is hard to understand as I have an abundance of white shirts, which I always seem to gravitate towards, but its clear that I do need a black shirt, not just for work, but just generally.
| SHOES
You can never have too many shoes (although my mum begs to differ) and there’s always a gap in the shoedrobe. That being said, I had a little look in my shoe cupboard and to my surprise, I didn’t actually find many gaps that I felt needed to be filled. Over the past couple of years, I’ve made some really great picks that have provided me with a concise selection to choose from! The only style of shoe that I’m always on the hunt for is a pair of loafers. The Gucci Princetown/Jordan loafers are number one on my list. Again, they’re an absolute classic, always in style and can be worn with a variety of different outfits, I think they would look great with a nice oversized shirt and skinny jeans.
| ACCESSORIES
There are a couple styles of bags that would really help fill some gaps within my bags, the first being a black cross body bag. I find it so difficult to find the perfect bag that is big enough to fit my necessities, but at the same time has a long enough strap to sit at just the right part of my body I currently have my eyes on the Gucci Soho Disco. It’s an absolute classic and would suit my lifestyle pretty well, as it’s a decent size to use everyday and the leather isn’t overly delicate either. The other bag that would fill a void is a black top handle bag, something like a Givenchy Antigona in the small size. I’ve always liked this bag and it was really trendy a few years back, but I still personally really like it! It’s the perfect size to be able to transition from day to night as it can be worn both casually and dressed up for more formal occasions.
