Over the past few years, more and more people are becoming vegan – it’s likely that either you, or someone you know is vegan. A common misconception with veganism is that it’s only a diet and about what you eat, however being vegan is in fact a lifestyle choice. With the increase in people choosing to go vegan, more brands are becoming cruelty free and vegan too. Although across the board, there are a lot of vegan beauty brands, a lot of the mainstream beauty brands that we’ve all grown up knowing, are not actually vegan. There are various ways to ensure that you are purchasing from vegan brands – you can go on PETA’s website and even some sites such as John Lewis have designated ‘Vegan Beauty’ categories.
| REAL TECHNIQUES
Makeup artists and YouTubers Sam and Nic Chapman have done a complete 180 when it comes to producing amazing quality brushes at an affordable price. Unlike brushes consisting of real fibres, RT brushes are great not only for powder products, but also liquid and cream products. Being synthetic brushes, they are a lot easier to clean and restore to the bristles’ back to their original colour. RT brushes are a definite fail-safe option when it comes to makeup brushes, as they’re consistent in the sense that you know exactly what you’re getting with every single brush. They’re good quality, apply products to the skin evenly and blend effortlessly. Not only that, but they are hugely reliable and definitely stand the test of time. Not to mention they don’t break the bank! Some personal favourites of mine are the Expert Face Brush, Base Shadow Brush, Sculpt Brush and the Expert Concealer Brush.
| NARS
NARS is a brand that I rave about all the time as they produce some of my favourite products of all time. I’ve used NARS products for so many years now and their products never disappoint. If you’re on the hunt for some of the best base products on the market then NARS is the place to go. They have an amazing range of products and their Sheer Glow foundation along with their Radiant Creamy Concealer are some of my personal favourites. Something I absolutely love about their range of bases is not only the amazing formula, which is extremely long wearing but also a very inclusive range of shades and undertones too. A few other products of theirs that I love to use is the Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser, which is perfect if you’re on holiday or if you just want a light base, that isn’t too heavy and still looks like skin. Like I previously said that Radiant Creamy Concealer is a staple of mine and has the perfect balance of coverage with out being too heavy and cakey under the eyes.
| CHARLOTTE TILBURY
I’ve been using Charlotte Tilbury products for about four or five years now. You can tell straight off the bat how much thought, knowledge and passion has gone into these products. Charlotte is a real talent and she knows exactly what she’s doing when she produces such products and it really shows. My favourite products from Charlotte Tilbury which I still love to this day are the Dolce Vita Quad which, is the perfect way to break into colour if you’re a little bit scared or reluctant to do so because it incorporates colour in such a subtle way and the eyeshadows are so buttery soft. I also have the Charlotte Tilbury Matt Revolution lipstick in Glastonberry, which is the most beautiful berry purple shade and has a beautiful formula and is a dream to use. I’ve currently got my eyes on a few skincare products from Charlotte Tilbury which are also vegan and cruelty free, namely the Magic Cream, which I’ve heard such great things about as well as the Wonder Glow Face Primer, both of which I plan on purchasing and trying out.
| URBAN DECAY
Urban decay is such a nostalgic brand for me. It was one of the first premium beauty brands that I tried when I first got into blogging and make up in general. As a brand they’re still going strong and some of their favourite products that I’ve used and loved are staples within the brand. I remember a few years back when I couldn’t find an eyeshadow primer that really worked and everything still made my eyeshadow crease. I then tried the amazing Urban Decay Primer Potion and it was the first eyeshadow primer that I found to actually work for me! On the topic of eyeshadow, I’m pretty sure everyone and their dog knows how amazing their eyeshadow palettes are, with the most known being the Original Naked Palette and then since there’s been various additions to that such as a Naked 2 and 3 palettes and the heat palette as well. Urban decay as a brand has so many amazing offerings to check out as they really have all bases covered.
What do you think about these Vegan beauty brands? Have you tried any of them out? If so, what are your favourite products?
